Singapore Aug 2014 - Day 3

Big decisions to make this morning. Day by the amazing pool or go and traipse around Singapore in the humidity... No brainer really. Pool it is. This decision was made even easier by the fact that we both slept for a solid 13 hours and woke up at 1pm. Bit annoying to lose half a day but so needed and we both felt so much better for it.

We head up to the roof and go for breakfast / lunch in the club house after wishing my sister a Happy Birthday. The weather is lovely today. It is a bit surreal sitting amongst the palm trees 57 floors up.

Time to resume position. In the pool though as we turn into balls of sweat after 5 mins on our loungers.

Panoramic view.

It's a pool you just can't get enough of.

No fresh fruit juice for me. It is beer o'clock by 3pm when a huge but very fleeting storm passes over.

The storm coming in. The wind really got up but then died down completely within half an hour and it was gorgeous again.

Back by the pool to the lovely weather.

Once again a storm comes over that looks like the end of the world. And once again it soon passes.

That evening we go for the usual pre dinner drinks on the roof in Ku De Ta before heading to dinner at DB Bistro Moderne. It is a modern French restaurant that is in the pimp shopping mall that is part of the hotel complex. The food was gorgeous. I had the duck confit and Nat the steak tartare (#proud of her love of raw meat!)

The gorgeous mall. Naturally, absolutely everything is pristine.

After dinner we decide to head to the casino which is a monster of a place. We didn't stay long though as you were not allowed alcohol on the casino floor so decided to move on. Never been ID'd and checked so much on the way out of a place before.

Now very random story. As we are meeting Mark and Robert in Bali tomorrow I spoke to Robert to make arrangements and he had a pretty disturbing (yet a bit funny) story. They are staying in the St Regis (where we spent Christmas Day) - an absolutely beautiful hotel. However, it wasn't so beautiful on Tuesday when an American couple strangled and killed the girls mother in one of the rooms there. It gets worse. How do you get rid of a body you may be thinking? Well you chop it up and put it in a suit case, order a taxi and put the suitcase in the taxi of course (like there was any other reasonable options!). They then left the taxi waiting and the taxi driver saw blood seeping out of the case so called the police. So random. Guess that's what you get when you stay in these rough places! And to top it off... They are now kicking off about being offered KFC in prison saying it was a racist taunt (I'd call that one hell of a perk myself). Here is the random story...

Anyway back to Singapore... Found some great crisps. Need to find this Beanfields place. Sounds magical. I imagine loads of mini me's wandering around.

We then decide to head to Orchard Rd for a very important part of any Bean trip. The Hard Rock Cafe visit. Now as the only glass that got broken in transit on the way back from Sydney was the Singapore one I had to 'drop by' to get a replacement. Unfortunately when we get there there was a rubbish rnb night on and the music was rubbish so we didn't even stay for a drink (sacrilege I know!). I did get my glass though you will all be pleased to know (especially my HRC glass storage services people aka Mum and Dad).

After, we couldn't really find anywhere decent around Orchard Rd and as the humidity is stifling this evening we decide to head back to the hotel. We go for a night cap in the hotel on the roof again (never tire of that view) then decide to call it a night as we have an early start in the morning for our flight to Bali.

In case you were waiting for a picture of me and my HRC glass... Here it is. I have thrown nakedness in for free you lucky blog readers.
