Nearly two years on and we return to our favourite country from our travels for a short trip to Buzios and Rio which is surprisingly doable in a week despite the 10 hour flight as it's only a two hour time difference to the UK.
We land in the evening and have arranged a transfer (through suntransfers.com) to take us on the 2.5 hour trip down the coast to the wonderful Buzios where we arrive around midnight.
The next morning the sun is shining and we relax by the lovely pool for the day.

That evening we go for dinner at a lovely restaurant literally on the sea (the only one in Buzios actually on the sea as they keep telling us) called Peixe Vivo
The food and wine were delicious as we got stuck into a monster sea food platter.
The next day the weather is pretty over cast so after a run (where I forgot just how painful the massive hills are here) we chill out around the pool again, reading and playing 'shit head'. Late in the afternoon we go for a little walk down to one of the small beaches for an explore. We stop off at the wonderful Abracadabra hotel with its amazing views over Buzios high up on the hill.
Buzios likes it statues - along with the Bridget Bardot one they also have these three fisherman amongst others.

On the way back we had a big moment for the holiday and I think potentially a turning point in Dave's life. His flip flops that he has had for years and years and were almost as thin as paper on the sole finally gave way (much to Caroline's delight!). It was almost like a religious ceremony sending them to their grave...
Back to the hotel - I do love this place.
That evening we head for dinner at the highly recommended and ridiculously great value Cigalon restaurant in town.
After a delicious dinner it starts to rain so we head across the road for what turned into a fairly boozy and very funny night as the result of playing the "name" game. Nat and Caroline struggling to think of a name and having to drink whilst they think...
The following morning we get up and decide to have a few hours by the pool as the weather was great first thing and not looking quite as good in Rio. We then get the 13:00 bus back to Rio which brings back a lot of memories of travelling. So long Buzios and next stop Rio!!!
