Early start this morning as we have a 9.20 flight to Bali. Great to see we haven't lost our ability to get up, ready, packed and out in record time. Did it all in 20 mins this morning and was in a cab by 7am.
Back to see our old friends the floating balls at Singapore airport. We nearly missed our flight we were so mesmerised by these last time and they were equally as mesmerising this time too. Amazing bit of art work.
Singapore airport is a dream - so peaceful. You just float around it in a state of relaxation. After a Starbies and a Subway for breakfast we head to the gate to board. We are an hour and a half delayed but nothing too drastic.
Very interesting riddles on the plane... I will provide the answers in tomorrow's blog (is this what it has come to to encourage readers to return??)
Flying past a dog shaped cloud.
We land in Bali at 13:30 and touch down to a glorious day. Weird thing is though by the time we go through the not so slick airport it is completely cloudy and fairly miserable for the rest of the day. It's only when writing this I realise how nice it was when we touched down. Strange weather.
Pretty punchy pre-authorization on my card of just under 34 million.
We are staying in Seminyak in Bali in a place called the Anantara.

Now I must admit me and Nat were slightly 'diva-ish' upon arrival. It wasn't helped by the grey day and definitely not helped by leaving proper 5 star luxury behind in Singapore but we had probably ridiculously high expectations of this hotel and it didn't quite live up to those expectations being a little tired in places. After a few complaints and a beer or two we had a word with ourselves as the place is actually lovely despite a few minor nicks and scratches around the place. That is very much Bali for you.
Our huge room with gorgeous sea view and a hot tub on our balcony (that we will probably never use but looks cool!). What were we complaining about again?
View from our balcony.
Probably the longest I will spend in here.
The lovely pool.
Now you may be wondering what these little delights are. I certainly was when I was just about to put one into my mouth to taste it.
Oh how foolish that would have been as they are in fact hand towels. You pick them up, drop them in the little tray of water and it soaks all the water up and expands...
...Before you know it you have a fully fledged hand towel. NOT a tasty sweet. And certainly with the amount of expansion that goes on something you would want in your mouth (no innuendo intended).
The sun trying to make its way through as we have a small bite and a few beers by the pool. The temperature is lovely, not humid at all.
And finally the sun breaks through. Can't wait to see the sunset on a clear day as the sunsets here are epic.
We even manage to find two suns in the end on our balcony.
That evening we are meeting Mark and Robert as they are also here but going home tomorrow. Luckily we overlap by one day. We meet them in our hotel rooftop bar for a few drinks first. We thought they should come to us and have a break from the murder scene that is their hotel.
After a few drinks we head to Ku De Ta further along the beach from our hotel for dinner.
It was such a fun night with great company, great restaurant and amazing food. The miso cod was delicious. Needless to say we had a lot of laughs and drank A LOT!
Love Roberts outfit but could never pull this off myself!!...
Brother from another mother.
The beach lit up beautifully. After dinner we move to a great spot on the beach. Great way to finish a great evening.
We get back to the hotel at about 2.30am with Nat teetering on the edge of the 'doom zone'. A couple of hours later she is worshiping the porcelean god. Not such a strong finish.
