We decide to head back to the scene of our midnight bagel and tea crime for breakfast and go to Mel's Drive In. I had a very tasty steak and eggs. Can't believe how little steak I have eaten since leaving Argentina.
Such a cool diner.
We then head back to our hotel to spend the day by the pool. It is bubbling hot today - a nice 31 degrees so we decide to have today by the pool and explore more on other days when it is a little bit cooler.
Our hotel.
As the pool wasn't that busy we had our pick of the prime positions today. Nat opted for her day bed...
And I opted for the lounger facing out over the LA sky line.
Panoramic view from the pool.
Our hotel overlooks a number of nice houses up in the hills but this is the clear winner for me. It has an amazing pool and deck area on different levels and huge floor to ceiling windows over looking the city. Very nice indeed.
Our pool which somehow has pavibg around it that is hotter than the sun.
Views of downtown.
That evening it is time for some baseball to catch the LA Dodgers playing the Detroit Tigers at the Dodgers Stadium. The only problem is LA traffic and their appalling public transport system. The Dodgers stadium isn't actually that far from where we are staying but it still took us 1.5 hours on the bus to get there, meaning we missed then first innings and the first two runs. This guy seemed to have the right idea with his pimped up bike to dodge the traffic.
We finally get to our seats midway through the second innings, having spent a phenomenal amount on a hot dog and a beer each - a total of $55!!!! When did baseball become extortionate? It was more for a beer in here than it was in the Encore pool party. Crazy.
After missing he first two runs we don't see another one scored until the 7th innings! It's a great atmosphere in a nearly sold out stadium.
All rise for the 7th inning stretch.
Do to the damn traffic and the fact that the buses drop down to every 45 mins we had to lend as the 9th innings started which we thought would be fine as LA were 2-1 up at this point. Then, typically we hear all sorts of cheers once outside the stadium. Turns out Detroit equalised to 2-2 and it went to the 10th innings where LA scored again to win 3-2. A very dramatic finish and due to the damn LA traffic and crappy transport system we missed it. Actually we missed 4 out of the 5 runs in total. Buggar! To top it off the bus was really late and we waited for 45 mins at the bus stop so could have seen it all. After another hour on the bus we got back around midnight and decided head straight to bed.
Noticed a cool Mad Men advert on the side of our hotel on the way back.
