Bali Aug 2014 - Days 6-7

Now for the sheer interest of my readers I think I am going to have to drop down an update every 2-3 days down to the sheer repetitiveness (and utter bliss) of our days.

Thursday (Day 6)

The usual start although I am making my way through the breakfast menu. This morning it's time for eggs benedict.

And back to the lounger with my book (an excellent and fascinating book called the Firm which is about McKinsey - geek it know!) (see what I mean about repetitiveness).

The sunset keeps promising to emerge but no matter how clear it is throughout the day it always clouds over just before sunset!

After another 10km run which literally killed my legs we head upstairs for pre going out drinks at our hotel roof bar. It's actually a really nice bar with sofas looking out over the sea. They also have a great band on every night too.

That evening we attempt to go for a drink in Potato Head Beach Club but there is a big queue to get in so we head out to a restaurant called Sarong which is absolutely awesome. Such a cool, stylish restaurant set in what looks like a big old house.

We have a gorgeous table in the garden overlooking the rest of the restaurant. The food is absolutely out of this world. The most delicious lamb nan with yoghurt to start with sashimi then I had a ridiculously tasty lamb curry and Nat some very succulent giant prawns. Food was amazing.

Yum yum.

Our table...

...And the view from our table.

Absolutely fantastic place. Highly recommend. One of the nicest restaurants I have been in for a while. They are not short of amazing restaurants in Seminyak.

After dinner we jump in a can and head back. Food coma setting in!

Friday (Day 7)

Let the usual day commence... This time starting with steak and eggs.

Another glorious day in paradise.

Love how the cleaner had hung up my gym pants! They have never been treated so well.

After another gym session of just weights as I can hardly move my legs we get ready and head upstairs to catch the end of the sunset (which is mostly cloud covered again apart from a few moments where it breaks through). We have a nice toast for my Grandad to celebrate his life whilst thinking about everyone at home at this particular moment and on this tough day X

We then decide to go for a drink upstairs at the Corner House where we are the other day. The interiors of this bar are amazing. Such a gorgeous place with great music too. Make a us want to get a "proper grown up house" so we can do it up like this.

Getting rather hungry we head across the road to a place called Bistrot for dinner. Once again great find and gorgeous vintage cafe style restaurant and food.

Getting a little tipsy after dinner but decide to head to the champagne bar across the road which turns into a Balinese equivalent of Hard Rock with some great old tunes and videos playing on the screens around the bar. The place gets heaving later and has a great atmosphere.

Very random way of serving drinks...

A picture for you Eric.... Pampas grass!!

We stagger out of the bar at about 1.30am for Nat to get back to the hotel and be sick AGAIN! Not sure what has happened to her. She has lost all her stamina!!

I need to end by focussing on the most special moment in this blog. It was a sad day yesterday, and Aaron's family said goodbye to the most wonderful, gentle, kind, loving Sid, his grandad. I know that you two were there yesterday, in spirit, and your letter was with your Brave Mum all day long. Your toast to him, as the sun went down in Bali, on the beach, was lovely, and I know that, whenever I see a beautiful sunset now, we will all remember an adored grandad, and great-grandad, husband, father and friend. Rest in Peace Sid xxx
