After breakfast today we check out and decide to go on the walking tour of the town. On the way we see a man taking his ferret for a walk. Not something you see everyday. Nat's ferreteria theory is gathering strength.
Unfortunately when we get to the walking tour meeting point it is only in Spanish, so we decide to grab a map that very conveniently had all the sites listed along with a description in English. Time to do the tour ourselves with myself as guide.
We decide to start our self tour under the drawing of a tree on a wall.
Colonia really is a beautiful little town with gorgeous buildings everywhere you look. The next step of the tour starts by heading through the old city wall where according to the Aaron Bean tour, dinosaurs stampeded in the blistering summer of '53, knocking down the wall and attacking the city on search of bottled water.
Floating Nat. Very Jesus.
Contrary to what you may think this is not just a picture of a man in a purple shirt. I quite liked the buildings behind.
The lighthouse in the centre of the old town.
After a while we realise that the specific sights on the walking tour are actually a bit boring although walking around the town is lovely. We had spotted a number of little buggies around the town so decided to hire some ourselves for a more comprehensive explore around town and down the coast.
Cruising with me bitches.
Parent mobile.
We head right around the coast past a number of average beaches until we reach a lovely Sheraton Hotel at the end.
For a Sheraton it is pretty swish. Gorgeous lobby with an amazing fireplace and the tallest chimney I have ever seen.
We chill out on the sofas outside and have one of the most expensive beers of the trip. Luckily it was damn good beer.
Eric is loving it - more so because she is actually now part of the blog!
After the Sheraton we head to the old bull ring, which for a bull ring looked awfully rectangular.
After a lot of pictures turns out we are in the wrong place. It's actually two mins down the road. After a lot of pictures of the wrong place we find the actual bull ring. That's more like it.
The buggies are excellent fun and a great way to see the city for $60 per day. After a good old explore at a breathtaking top speed of about 20mph we stop for an ice cream and even manage to catch the last ten mins of Wigan beating Man City.
Back on the road. Dad this time cruising with his bitches.
After dropping our 'love wagons' off we head to Casa Grande for a bite to eat as they had some nice singers outside playing guitar.
After dinner we head to the port and introduce the group to shit head. It all gets a bit too much for Eric (who is now a life member of the Jan Bean sleepers club).
After a delay in departing we make the hour long journey across the River Plate to BA. The boat wasn't as we expected - it was like a proper cross channel ferry. No opportunities for us to soak up the views coming into BA, although we did have the equivalent of match of the day 2 on and saw all the weekends goals.
We arrived in BA at around 10pm and head to our hotel. The lovely Fierro Boutique hotel in Palermo. After a night cap in the bar we retire to one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in on our travels. The room was great too.
