Day 103 - Buzios to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

I promise after today the blogs will get a bit more interesting and varied again as, you guessed it, today is a carbon copy of the past two days. Continued bliss for us but not the most interesting of reads I know. Back into crazy busy sightseeing again from tomorrow though. 

The day is pretty much the same until 5.30pm when we leave for Rio to go and meet Mum, Dad, Nige and Elaine. We are so excited and it is a bit weird knowing that we will be seeing them but not back at home. 

One random story before we left the hotel though was we were sat by the pool and an old chap walked by and Nat said "that guy looks just like Chris who we met in Lencois". Turned out it was Chris from Lencois. Such a small world. 

In other random news on this very slow news day:

A) I found out Cara Delavigne is a lesbian and reprimand Nat for holding back fit lesbian news. She won't be doing that again. 

B) I finish yet another book and make a start on Warren Buffet's Snowball which at 10% of the way through is very entertaining. 

C) We pick up our laundry. 

D) With Nat's very brown tan and white patches I have a new name for her: "white tits" 

E) Nat swims a 100 lengths and I realise that I am a terrible swimmer trying to beat her. 

We grab a quick bite to eat before leaving for the bus station. I must say the service at the hotel has been outstanding. It is almost embarrassing how much they bend over backwards for you. They even get us an ice bucket for the left over beer we had in our fridge and keep it stocked with ice all day for us to keep them cold. 

We set off on the slow bus ride back to Rio due to the traffic and arrive finally at about 10:30. Only two hours later and double the time it was supposed to take. I have never seen a bus station as busy as this one. It took 45 mins to even get into it. God knows how Rio is going to handle the crowds for the World Cup.

On the way to the hotel we pass the Sambodrome, the stadium where the carnival is held and it looked awesome. We also passed the huge staging areas where they were preparing some of the biggest, brightest and ostentatious floats we have ever seen. So excited about the carnival now. It's going to be awesome. 

Mum and Dad are landing at 21:00 so we  arranged to meet up in the hotel bar as soon as they arrive but we end up getting a knock at our door and ITS THEM! They have arrived. So great to see them and Nige and Elaine. 

We naturally spend the rest of the evening in the hotel bar and realise how out of practice we are for boozing now. We are going to die when we get back to England. It's also strange that with all te face time and the blog there isn't much "catching up" to do either. Great seeing them though and very excited about the next two weeks. 

PS. Other interesting news is that the Novotel toilet seat is soft. It's like sitting on a cushion. What a great idea!
