Weird Christmas Day morning, not quite the same excitement but looking forward to our gorgeous Christmas Brunch at the St Regis hotel. Santa has managed to up his IT skills and deliver our pressies via Internet banking! Maybe he is realising he doesn't need to kill himself traveling the world in one night and just get involved in internet shopping! Huge thank you to our parents for our pressies, to Jane and Yiannis for keeping us fed and sheltered for another week on our travels and Mum, Dad and my Sis for the gift of unlimited booze at our brunch today. :-)
Love Jacobs picture from this morning. (Santa should have spotted the Ferrero Roche underneath though. School boy error).
The good news is that the sun is out today! No more torrential rain (well at least for now). We have a very good workout in the gym before we head to brunch. That's 17 miles in two days I have run. Definitely ready to stuff my face Christmas style. The food coma later will be well earnt.
Bloody Mary's in King Coles bar pre Brunch.
Best present ever... ;-)
The hotel is gorgeous. I wonder why we aren't treating ourselves and staying here then I find out from reception that it's $1,200 per night. That will be why then.
Nat cried when we got to our table it is so nice and Christmassy. Luckily we seem to have landed the best table in the place. It is so Christmassy and just what we needed.
Biggest tea pot in the world that was the most unused. After it was delivered we discovered the drinks package. No more tea was drunk in the duration of Christmas brunch. We also only have until 3pm so we have missed 30 mins boozing time. Time to play champagne catch up. My fave game.
Booze package is great. Whatever we want unlimited from this (thanks M+D)
Course one (of seven for me). Four meat roast. Four meat roast. See how it cooks!
You will notice one tiny bit of salad top right. To maximise buffet efficiency this is all the salad / veg I have all day. Pure meat all the way. Delicious.
Course two same as one. Course three is time for steak and eggs.
For courses four and five see course one! More turkey and ham being delivered by my beautiful assistant.
The setting is amazing too. They have musicians playing and singing Christmas songs with a piano and double bass. Let it snow was a bit strange!
Then an amazing choir came in to sing carols. They were so good and cute. We both got a bit emotional when they start singing.
Time to switch to a nice rouge.
Nat falling behind. Choo choo.
Double parked myself though.
Don't want this to come to an end but it's now 3.30pm and we are starting to out stay our welcome! Cosmo for the road on the terrace.
As it's time to get up back in the UK we face time our parents to wish them a happy Christmas. Great to see them. Then we head back to our hotel and hit the beach.
Gorgeous dip in the sea. So refreshing. Food and booze coma setting in. Starting to get hung over!
After a sleep on beach where I wake up and it is pitch black we have one more and then head back to the room. Going to be an early night! Hangover completely set in now. Bit more face time before everyone sits down to eat at home and it's lights out. It's actually been a really special day despite missing everyone loads. Would love to do a brunch with everyone in London next year! Merry Christmas all. Enjoy your dinners, games and terrible Christmas TV! Big love xxx
PS. Can you guess who is who?... (Nat has been busy again!)
Jacob looks a but old...
MERRY CHRISTMAS 2013 MY DARLINGS!! What an absolutely gorgeous, alternative Christmas you enjoyed together! Well done Aaron for giving Sparatty the Christmas of her dreams....and we loved reading about it and re-living your joy through those fabulous photos! Music of Downton Abbey swelling in the background...Christmas special...they visited Buckingham Palace for supper...added to the emotion, and I was awash by the time Natty was seated at your table!!!!! It was magical talking to you in the early morning FaceTime, and opening our lovely presents from you, with you both in our kitchen!!!!! FaceTime has transformed what could have been a very sad day into a wonderland full of ove and a lot of laughter with you, LIVE!!! The Y'ster and I had a wonderful time chez Hall....Sharon cooked us a beautiful turkey dinner, followed by Christmas pudding, ignited by Y'ster with Metaxa 7 star.....not just ANY brandy...as the MnS advert goes!!!! A few had apple pie...Grace did the traditional honours and removed the offending pastry ball in Peter's absence!!!! In summary, despite my fears, a good time was had by all.....no sadness, just two joyful, festive FaceTime sessions with you and time spent with our best friends. Joy reigns! You two will be waking up soon....and I'm off to bed to finish watching Love Actually....,Aaaaaah.... Christmas Schmaltz! Love, tight hugs and a shower of kisses, Christmas Eric xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeletePS... Had a very special phone call from Peter, who has been having the most amazing Christmas at Birkholme. They decorated the tree on Christmas Eve, and went to a very special Midnight Mass...the first time that they had worshipped in the beautiful little church in which they were married, sine Oct 19th!!! He was preparing for Secret Santa present opening ...but had to wait until mid afternoon for the official present opening ceremony!!! It made me remember when he was much younger and slept on the sofa so that he could wake up as early as possible to open his presents.....!!! He sounded soooo happy- a very special Christmas for him, too....the first with his Selena!!!!! Altogether, a wonderful Christmas 2013, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
