Day 35 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Wow last night escalated fast. Big night. Huge hangover and even bigger hole in my wallet this morning. This is not a cheap place. Spent more last night than we did in all our time in Laos! Have a bit of buyers remorse as a consequence but hey ho. It's up the wall now.

After an awful breakfast, if you can call it that (grey eggs) and unsuccessful admin trying to book our journey to Singapore online we decide to head to the Petronas Towers but via the bus station to try and get some bus tickets. More unsuccessful admin when we find out you can only pay cash and we don't have enough. Four cash machines later we still don't. And  by the time we do we are too far away from the station to be bothered to go back. We get to the Petronas Towers and the tickets are all sold out for today and to top it all off I have been paid wrong and my MasterCard was blocked when tying to buy something online earlier.  Not the greatest of starts to the day. Especially on a monster hangover. We are in a bit of a grumpy mood in the oppressive heat!

So we decide to head to the other place to view the city, the Mendara Tower (KL tower) instead.

It's set on top of a hill that is painful to walk up in the heat. At least we see lots of monkeys on the way though.

View from the top is great.

Great advertising!

After we decide to head to Masjid Jamek but rain definitely leads to play being abandoned. It is bucketing it down again. Too heavy to even walk around in. We have never been so wet from even 10 seconds in the rain.

Storm drains filling up again.

Our very bland hotel. Luckily we have an undercover walk way from the station right to our door. Very handy for both rain and when it's sunny.

That evening for ease we head back to Bukit Bintang as it is under cover and there are a lot of lovely restaurants.

We eat at a gorgeous restaurant tonight called Ben's. It is styled so nice. We would love our flat like this!

The view up towards Bukit Bintang train station.

Sitting in a western style shopping centre, outside on the terrace with the rain pouring down, listening to Christmas carols, overlooking a huge Christmas tree and eating a steak and ale pie with a pint is about an English a Christmas as I am going to get out here. Great pie!

After we head to a bar that is recommended in a lot of places and by Toni called the Establishment. Disappointedly we go to the wrong one and this one is empty.  Cool venue though.

Back to bed for midnight. Nat has been the most hung over all day. She has been a mong. Long bus journey to Singapore tomorrow.  Really liked KL. It is very western and has great night life. The weather takes a bit of getting used to though.
