Day 6 - Mui Ne, Vietnam

Woke up to a very welcome surprise this morning. Sunshine!! Luckily the weather forecast turned out to be as accurate as it is in England.

Not sure about the Addidas sponsorship of a classic Vietnamese picture though!

Not too much to update as spent most of the day chilling out sunbathing and reading. Currently finishing off a very good book by Jim Rogers called Street Smarts about investment management (a lot more interesting than it sounds!). Recommend it.

Later on me and Dave managed to find these bad boys to hit the waves with. Not quite the cool factor as a proper surf board but definitely more suitable and manageable for us!

Contemplated learning to Kite Surf but apparently it takes at least 8 hrs so running out of time on this leg of the trip. Also for the first part you are effectively flying a kite on the beach. The Kite Surfers were amazing though. Hitting waves then doing flips at about 20ft in the air. One day! Def need to learn to surf though. One for the to do list when we get to Thailand.

More cards/shit head...

And then a run for me at sunset (chased by a dog and crabs)

We ate at a place called Sunrise this evening. A place you would never find without a recommendation as it is set in the hills off "the main drag" down an alley way that, in England would be worrying, but out here is just where the friendly locals live.

Restaurant was lovely although we really need to stop eating in these hip, pricey places - £16 per person is just ridiculous!!! ;-)

Had great fun at dinner avoiding a crazy amount of bugs and mini cockroaches which makes this place sound like a hell hole but is just a minor inconvenience of  eating outside in Vietnam and not a reflection on the place. It was really lovely, despite Lynne not getting to eat her last mouthful as a cockroach ran across her plate! Everyone loves a bush tucker trial!!!

She had the last laugh though as I went to the toilet in the next bar, washed my hands on the hand towel hanging there only to find the daddy of all cock roaches land in my cupped hands. Didn't squeal like a pig honest.

Mui Ne is a fantastic place. Don't let cockroach stories put you off!! They are still the minority here. Could definitely do a few more days here.

Hanoi tomorrow though. Can't wait.

That place is an absolute paradise in the sun, can quite understand you wanting to prolong your stay there. Safe journey to Hanoi tomorrow. Weather here is warmer and drier today, quite sunny this morning.
