Day 5 - Mui Ne, Vietnam

Rain, rain and more rain. Forecast is proving to be true unfortunately.

Still raining...

And still raining...

Forgot to mention lawn mower man from last nights dinner on yesterday's blog. This is a guy with a tattoo of a man mowing a lawn on the back of his head. Strong performance.  Would have got a picture if he wasn't a 6ft 5 Aussie with tattoos all over his body.

Still raining.

The road outside is now a river...

Luckily the hotel has an awesome chill out area with beds, bean bags and even a bunk bed above the restaurant. This turns out to be a great chill out area all day for cards (we learnt how to play "shit head" courtesy of Wikipedia which is a great game!), reading, crosswords, random chat and more BKI beer.

Downloded the history of the Vietnam war book (you know how I love a good history of a region book).

After such a gruelling afternoon it was time for a back, shoulders and head massage with Nat in the gorgeous hotel spa.

It actually then brightened up (ie stopped raining) so it was straight into the sea to enjoy the waves. Check out the idyllic beach, look left...

And right...

That evening we went for a fantastic meal at a local fish restaurant where they get fish directly from the fisherman as they come back to shore. It's a little family run restaurant on the beach called Lam Tong with plastic chairs and tables and looks nothing at first sight. We took on board the guide books advice of "not looking at the impoverished kitchen on the way in"...

And dinner greeting you on the way in.

The place was brilliant. Some of the best seafood we have had. We ate like kings including 1.2kg of delicious lobster which was to die for (We look a bit intimidated at first, certainly wouldn't like to face this chap in the sea!)

But he was no match for a spoon and a pair of chop sticks...

We hit new levels of ridiculous value this evening. All this meal including a bottle of wine and beers cost a whopping £8.20 each!!! Crazy.

Night caps in Sankara bar and good old Joe's bar, then the usual cards on the terrace or "shit head before bed" as it will now be known as. Definitely had worse rainy days!!!
